Kundoo’s house in the township gives an impression of both regional and modern appearances. She named it as “Wall House’’. The house is unique and one of its kind due to the modern techniques with traditional approach. Vernacular use of concrete, compressed earth and steel is the main attraction in the designing of the house. Her ideas of utilizing unskilled labor puts a cost minimizing effect on the overall cost of the project. She generally chooses the local community of the project site for this.
Her designing approach is very unique from the others as she prefers waste materials for construction which has proved beneficial to the environment as well as economic to the project.
Kundoo’s work has been appreciated all over the world. A full sized replica of her ‘Wall house’ was exhibited at Venice Biennale of architecture which was a gesture of appreciation of her work. The New York Times described this as ‘Gem among rubble’.
