Finally, the technology has come which will solve the problem of fumbling for your keys while juggling with bags and other groceries. Well for this cool feature Kevo locks will be costing you a pretty penny and along with that this product offers solid security and also control your door lock with a smartphone application.
While selecting a door lock, the biggest confusion which everyone faces is which company we should select. One is Schlage which is much older than Kwikset which is providing home security products from last 6 decades.
Without having a second chance in mind, the first preference was Kwikset and its best-selling product Kwikset Kevo Bluetooth Deadbolt. There are plenty of reasons why this lock was chosen and on further reading, you will also come to know why I am using this lock from last 3 years.
With the help of Kwikset Kevo, you can unlock your door when your smartphone is not with you. Kevo comes with a handy keychain fob that will allow your way inside too.
What if you are in office and need to unlock your door from there. Yes, this can easily be done as you can use the free Kevo application to send friends and family members “eKeys” that will be helpful when you are not around.

Kwikset Kevo Price
But what about the price? Not everyone can afford much more costly door lock. The idea of smartening up our deadbolts is quite amazing but talk is cheap whereas smart locks are expensive. The cost of Kwikset Kevo lock is $ 219 and this lock is about seven times much costlier than the standard Kwikset deadbolt.
After reviewing some of the smart locks like Kwikset 909 SmartCode electronic deadbolt we came to the conclusion that Kwikset kevo is worth a try in this price range. As some of you must not be convinced by just telling and wanted a solid reason behind telling this.
After installing, calibrating and testing the thing out, we were dually impressed by how strongly the Kevo performed. It is correctly said that smart lock is eventually a lock whose main purpose is to provide security.
While some of the other products of Kwikset are vulnerable to simply forced entry, Kevo confirmed all our tests. If you are looking for one of the strongest and safest lock along with convenient functionality, this is the best door lock which you should prefer.
Out of best and top 5 Kwikset door locks we prefer you should select the best out of these five. Even though this product is not the best selling product but overall reviews and ratings of Kwikset Kevo Bluetooth door lock 2nd Generation is 4.5 out of 5.0.
The application which is available free of cost runs in the background which you don’t have to open while entering your home. For this, the main problem is that the Bluetooth setting of your smartphone has to be on all the time.
With the mobile application, we can view lock history and also set up and disable any eKeys. The one thing that should be kept in mind that you have to be judicious in handling the eKeys. However, for a new key, you have to pay extra $1.99 for a simple key code.
After experimenting, again and again, I found that the smartphone need to be within a 2 feet range which is quite okay for me. The results of regular use of lock were quite satisfying – the light ring flashed blue, then green and then beep twice and the lock smoothly whirled and clicked.
But there is a very little delay between touching the lock and opening of the lock. For a smart lock and this can be considered and with the 2nd Generation some extra features are integrated.
The best thing about using eKeys is that you can create as many as guest keys you want and by simply sending the key code to your friends or family members, the door lock can be opened by simply using the application on their smartphone.
Well, you must be impressed with some of the features of Kwikset but eventually the lock must solve the purpose of security. Since you must have the eKey to open the door lock, there is no chance and risk that a burglar hacking into your lock and opening it with a remote access. As this is not James Bond picture where hacking a lock system can be done in minutes.
Also, the range of eKeys is also short and if you lost your phone inside, there are no such chances that the phone has to be pretty much right near the door to work properly.
With the smart system, Kwikset Kevo is able to determine whether the lock user is inside the home or outside and also bats PKI encryption is installed to keep mobile and web applications secure.
The lock is certified for BMHA Level 2 which is considered as the second highest possible ratings for security.
Kevo Application Features
The application is available for free download and with Kevo’s application, you can easily keep the track of people entering and leaving your sweet home. The same application can be used to send eKeys to others like friends and family members.
The public eKeys can easily be deleted or temporarily disabled however unlike some other smart locks, you cannot send eKeys that only work at a certain time or eventually expire on a certain date. You have to disable the keys manually which seems to be somewhat disappointing.
The thing that doesn’t need to be a bother is that after each eKey you send out after the first one will be costing you extra $1.99. The best thing which you must be loving is that your phone can be asleep in your pocket and just by simply turning on Bluetooth you can easily enter without worrying about your keys.
Well by now you must completely agree with my opinion that Kwikset Kevo is the best smart lock which you must try at a moderate cost price. Despite some of the negotiable limitations, if you are a beginner, Kevo is a great smart lock and that futuristic green light and beep sound will let you love your home even more.
